What is Juneteenth? Despite the Emancipation Proclamation of January 1st, 1863, it wasn’t until a whole two and a half years later on June 19th, 1865 when Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, TX to proclaim that all enslaved persons were free and the Civil War had ended. Today, Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.
In honor of the anniversary, we pulled together 12 inspiring and talented black interior designers who we think everyone should be following on Instagram in 2020 – let’s get to it!
Corey’s rise to design fame began with his first place win on HGTV’s Showhouse Showdown. We love Corey’s impeccably polished interiors and his Insta feed, which offers a mix of his incredible work and the occasional behind-the-scenes glimpse of his fabulous life.

Brigette Romanek is the founder of Romanek Design Studio, and one of the most sought after interior designers in LA. Always timeless, her designs and Insta feed reinvent classic design in a way that never fails to inspire – not to mention the occasional celebrity cameo.
3. @cococozy
Executive by day and interior design blogger/ & home furnishings designer by night, Coco’s life is the stuff of dreams. Her Instagram is equally lovely, delivering approachable class with a personal twist. Coco’s posts have a way of brightening our days, everyday!
Alicia Bailey, founder of Bailey Li Interiors, is has been making waves since she hit the scene. Her fresh and fearless style – plus those incredible murals – makes her stand out as a designer to keep watching. Her personal perspective is evident in every one of her boho-glam-maximalist posts.
5. @olorointeriors
Chance is the magic behind Oloro Interiors, and we love her minimal-meets-lush approach to interiors. It’s no surprise her work has been featured on National Geographic among others. We love how her plant-filled interiors shine through our newsfeed daily!
Marie Burgos loves color fiercely, and that’s a truth you can’t miss in her Instagram. It’s an incredible designer who can celebrate interiors so vibrantly, while having the discipline to design clean lines and open spaces. This woman knows how to edit her interiors flawlessly.
Darryl Carter is one of the most well-known interior designers in the country today. His architectural approach to design is evident in every image he posts. There’s nothing more satisfying than a clear and evolving design eye, and we are so glad Darryl shares his with us.

Ishka Designs is a Brooklyn-based interior design firm all about beauty in negative spaces. This incredible design pair is admired, sought-after, and pretty much who we all want to be when we grow up. Effortless cool meets unwavering minimalism?

9. @purecoliving
Kelly Ann-Baptiste, founder of Pure Collected Living, designs and photographs spaces that are deeply influenced by her travels. The rich history of architecture is central to her work, and her Insta is a master’s class in beautiful photo styling to compliment every interior.
10. @modernslantinteriors
Modern Slant Interiors is a full-service interior design studio led by owner Racquel Valle. Her work is effortlessly romantic, and full of light touches. Open, airy, and all about the details, her Instagram reflects her influences – nature, art, and a nomadic lifestyle.
11. @casavilora
Veronica Solomon, built her company, Casa Vilora Interiors, with a effervescent dedication to vibrant, colorful interiors. Hers is the sort of design people call Fearless. If you love drama, maximalism, patterns, color, and glamour in your spaces, this is an Instagram not to be missed.
12. @homegirllifestyle
Photographer and creator, Rebecca Frick, started her business HOMEGIRL, and we feel so at home on her Instagram. She capture those special moments at home. We aren’t sure if it’s the natural light, open space, or everyday approachability, but we know we love her beautiful feed.
