A Lake Home Made for Hosting

Sugar Lake Summer Home Tour

Whether your love of hosting has existed for years or you simply long for the days of getting together with friends and family, this lake home was made for gathering together and enjoying Minnesota’s beauty. For this family of four, their second home needed to be the perfect weekend and holiday getaway from the city while still providing all the necessary functions to live and entertain.

Trending with Bold Color

For many the kitchen is the heart of the home, whether preparing dinner for a busy evening of extracurriculars or unwinding after a day outside on the lake. Not only does this kitchen draw the eye, serving as the focal point of the space, but it truly functions for a family that loves to host.

When you enter, you cannot help but notice the stunning custom blue kitchen cabinets in Farrow & Ball Hague Blue with honey bronze hardware accents. Neutral countertops; natural elements, like the ceiling beams that draw your eye to lake views; and faux brick backsplash provide contrast and texture within the space. Laminate flooring throughout is both durable and timeless.

And what kitchen is complete without a few special features. This classic blue kitchen beauty includes a pantry with pocket door, additional beverage fridge close to the main dining space (because life on the lake is all about drinks), double ovens and a single-bowl apron front sink – all essential features for an active family and their guests. Custom oak elements including the hood and island complement the rich, blue kitchen cabinetry while maintaining the statement aesthetic… a space that is meant for gathering.

Outdoor Living for Family and Friends

This lake home is about getting away and enjoying lake life in Minnesota. It is more than just a home away from home, but a space that feels welcoming and comfortable for family and friends who are visiting for the weekend or a holiday. With stunning lake views, it was also about multi-functional space that allows this family and their guests to enjoy everything about outdoor living throughout this home.

Whether lounging by the lake, gathering around the dining table or relaxing in the living room, these spaces all provide the opportunity to maximize the feeling of being outdoors. From easily grabbing drinks to enjoy by the lake to picturesque views that provide the perfect backdrop for outdoor living inside.

A Bunk Room Dream Come True

A home for hosting isn’t complete without a space for the kids. This lake home getaway must function for a family seeking a weekend reprieve, as well as their guests who may be visiting for a few days or a long holiday. To create a space truly about relaxation, it’s important to provide a space for the youngest of guests too. A room that feels both fun and functional for a houseful.

This bunk room features custom bunks, functional sleeping space and outdoor views that make this space so much more than a bedroom. Wood elements throughout blend seamlessly with the aesthetic of the home, while also bringing a bit of the outside in.

Hosting is about so much more than an evening of fun. At this lake home, hosting is truly about the experience, from beginning to end. Whether gathering in the blue kitchen to prepare a meal or enjoy the outdoor beauty with all the conveniences of home, this getaway is so much more than a place to escape. It’s a home away from home that offers both function and experience.
